A journey into the future of travel and technology

As one participant wrote:
“I can't say how much I enjoyed the week. The content was fantastic and there wasn't a single session where we all weren't incredibly engaged and learning.”
Details
We worked closely with the internal learning team to connect the programme design, strategy, cultural aspirations and leadership commitments. The design process began with diagnostic interviews to identify the core learning priorities at the VP level of the organisation.
The Learning Arc
The programme took place in Oxford and brought together a faculty team that spanned academia, design, strategic communications, professional sport, theatre and music. The 3 days followed our learning arc: providing provocation, creating experiences, making time for sensemaking and reflection, and encouraging experimentation. At times the group found themselves interviewing hoteliers in the city, hearing about travel in the renaissance, considering the future of geopolitics, the impact of discrimination in football and, unexpectedly, coming together in song!
Results
The cohort left the programme with strategic experiments designed to take the learning back to their team, stretch strategic thinking, and build on areas of personal leadership challenge.
This is the crucial ingredient that turned insight and experience into strategic action, a dynamic that was valued by the participants:
“It helped me step out of my day-to-day work; take a step back to take 10 steps forward”

Our insights
At times the group found themselves interviewing hoteliers in the city, considering the future of geopolitics, the impact of discrimination in football and, unexpectedly, coming together in song!

This programme was a testament to the connection between the TH team and our learning and development partners. It was a key element of a refreshed approach to leadership development strategy and, consequently, a high-profile project. Quickly forming a strong project team was crucial to delivering a memorable learning experience under time pressure. The trust that we built enabled us to bring creativity and surprise – such as gaining insight into the future of global travel by revisiting 16th-century exploration.
